Ingeborg Fulford has been having a quilting group at her home for well over ten years. Even after her car accident several years ago, she was able to keep on sewing and making quilts using her hands free sewing machine. Her husband, Jim Fulford, used to be a driver for Cowansville’s Meals on Wheels (Popote Roulante) for quite a few years before he was no longer able to do it. Both Jim and Ingeborg benefitted from the delivery of meals three times a week, and since his passing, she has continued with the service.
To say thank you to the service, Ingeborg and her daughter Alice, came up with the idea of making 150 quilted placemats to give to Popote Roulante to be able to give out at Easter time. The goal was to have them for last Easter but COVID prevented the group from meeting in person and making that number of placemats took longer than expected.
Quite a few women got into the act of making the placemats and only a few placemats are left to be made before the presentation to Popote Roulante can be done. This Easter the holiday meal will be a bit brighter with the addition of a homemade quilted placemat.
