The Yamaska Valley Optimist Club is launching a campaign entitled “Operation Backpack.” Up until the evening of April 16, new school bags/backpacks are being accepted for Ukrainian Refugees who should be arriving sometime soon. As of last Thursday three hundred backpacks had been donated to the project.
The backpacks are being collected at the Virgin Hill Coffee outlet in Foster, where a free coffee will be given to the donor, or at Mission, 605 Knowlton Road, in Knowlton. The drop offs are open Mondays to Fridays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Further information is available from Louise Gelinas at 450-521-9478.
It will be stressful enough when they first arrive and any welcoming gesture is to be commended.
