Dirt Camp, a specialized summer day camp for mountain biking for children between the ages of six to 16 of all skill levels located in Bromont, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. As the longest running mountain bike camp in Canada and with around 5,000 campers in the last 25 years, Dirt Camp has come a long way since its humble beginnings in the village of Eastman and director Jeff Silas is expecting it to continue to grow, even in the face of the pandemic. As one of the fastest growing sports in the country, experts at Dirt Camp provide children with the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge to securely practice mountain biking while gaining confidence.
“Ten years ago or 20 years ago, this would have been a ‘oh yeah that’s an interesting thing’ and turn the page, but because of Covid, mountain biking has gone bonkers in the past two years,” said Jeff Silas, director of Dirt Camp. “Not many people known about this type of specialization in mountain biking but as the population starts to do it more, it starts to become more public knowledge. Mountain biking is mainstream now.”
